Occupy Education Lincoln

Education is a basic human right.

Nobody should be denied education because of their socioeconomic status; nobody should be forced into overwhelming debt for a degree. As curious and creative creatures, education is something that should be a basic part of who we are for our entire lives. Education should not merely be a necessary step that we take to get a career. It should be something we engage in everyday, for the sheer joy of learning, and for the betterment of ourselves and our community.

Starting January 9th through February 13th will be the ECON 99 Course:The Economics the 1% Doesn’t Want You to Know. This series will consist of five informal lectures presenting basic ideas in economics. Each presentation will be followed by an open, uninhibited, and civil discussion. Taught by Hank van den Berg, Professor of Economics at UNL.

There will also be a workshop series starting January 10th called Teach-In Tuesday. Everyone is a teacher. Each week a different member of the Lincoln community will host a short class on a topic of their choosing.
